In response to the poor control I have over the included Modem/router unit provided by our ISP (outlined in this post), I wanted to deploy a firewall software application in a virtual environment to leverage the capabilities of consumer hardware.
It’s been a while since the last Proxmox project post, and this was because of actually executing the plan – getting all the parts and playing around with it all.
New project in the works. I want to build a computer that runs Sophos UTM and act as my firewall/internal gateway. Sophos would allow me to have greater control in terms of QoS, device management, routing, and security.
Create an SSL VPN tunnel using Sophos UTM9 to allow encrypted Windows Remote desktop connections. Topology consists of a Windows Active Directory, Sophos UTM, internal and external clients. Users want to be able to connect to internal desktop clients from external networks.
